Research Guidelines, Tips, & Recommended Websites

Research Guidelines:
·        Always cite your sources (give titles, authors, and publication information such as date, website, publisher/city for EACH thing you read)
·        Paraphrase information
·        If you want to borrow an important idea from an author in his or her exact words, make sure you copy no more than 1 or 2 sentences and make sure you use “quotation marks” around the copied text & provide a full citation

Research Tips:
·        Use a variety of resources (different websites, books, interviews, photographs, TV shows or videos…)
·        Use quality resources (look for good information – from universities, think tanks, major organizations, newspapers – and for facts, not opinions)
·        Investigate – dig deep and work hard
